Record spectrum history and locate the source of problematic signals in order to mitigate interference problems and identify illegal or unlicensed signaling activity.
The MS27101A remote spectrum monitor addresses the market need for a precise remote solution for whitespace spectrum monitoring, detection of harmful levels, interference monitoring within buildings, protection of positive train control systems, and location of sources of illegal, unlicensed, or similar interference signals. Supplied in a half-rack-width enclosure, the MS27101A is ideal for spectrum monitoring in compact environments.
The MS27101A is capable of scanning at speeds up to 24 GHz/s, enabling the capture of intermittent signals, including periodic or transient transmissions, as well as burst signals. Its high dynamic range (>106 dB) normalized to a 1 Hz bandwidth, instantaneous bandwidth of 20 MHz, high sensitivity, and low spurious noise allow the MS27101A to reliably monitor low-intensity signals. With a typical power consumption of less than 11 W, the MS27101A can be powered by solar cells in remote locations.
When used with the optional Vision software, the MS27101A remote spectrum monitor can record spectrum history and pinpoint the location of the signal of interest. Three or more MS27101A monitors are required to obtain the approximate position of the interference signal. The Vision software provides full control of all installed spectrum monitoring probes. The software runs on Windows-based PCs and servers and communicates with the MS27101A via Gigabit Ethernet or a USB cellular modem.
Similar to other Anritsu remote spectrum monitors, the MS27101A is designed for rugged field operation, with remote power cycling capabilities, automatic system recovery protocols, and secure firmware updates delivered remotely to the device. If an application error or power fluctuation interrupts communication with the monitor, a reset is initiated, returning the remote probe to its previous state.
The MS27101A integrates a web server that allows users to access the remote spectrum monitor from anywhere in the world via a web browser. After registration, it can be fully controlled. The browser window can simultaneously display signal data, spectrograms, and other measurements.
Anritsu's family of remote spectrum monitors also includes the MS27102A and MS27103A. The MS27102A is a complete IP67-rated platform designed for outdoor applications. Its probe, capable of sweep speeds up to 24 GHz/s, can capture numerous types of signals. The MS27103A is specifically designed to identify and locate interference signals, enabling cellular carriers, DAS operators, and terrestrial mobile network operators to act quickly to protect their multi-billion-dollar network investments and maintain data capacity.
