The solution uses Nemo Outdoor's analytical tools to provide capabilities to visualize and post-process data, so that network equipment manufacturers and mobile operators can evaluate and verify 5G base station propagation models to indicate 5G cellular coverage levels.

Mobile operators must perform numerous measurements and analyses to gather information about cellular millimeter wave propagation in different radio environments, both indoors and outdoors. Real-world 5G measurements allow operators to supplement and verify initial radio network plans and models.

“Since there are currently no 5G devices and very few 5G radio measurement solutions available, mobile operators face the challenge of verifying that the propagation models used during 5G network planning match reality,” explains Juha Laukkanen, Director of Field Testing and Benchmarking Products at Keysight. “Keysight’s solution, which combines Nemo Outdoor and FieldFox, offers users a unique tool to ensure the accuracy of 5G planning models. Measuring the signal power levels of 5G base stations in the field allows operators and network providers to verify 5G propagation models, thus ensuring network development and ultimately accelerating time to market.”

Keysight’s 5G RF measurement solution provides a complete measurement system for millimeter wave propagation, including the software and hardware needed to collect, post-process, analyze, and visualize the data. Furthermore, it allows the generation of statistical information that can be easily shared within the organization.
