It has been developed to help operators reduce energy consumption while facilitating a simple migration path for existing TMU9 installations.
The TM1 expands the range of UHF transmitters and covers power levels from 600 W to 6.5 kW. To address the rapidly evolving mobile communications and media sectors, the transmitter offers native support for ATSC 3.0 and 5G Broadcast. This allows network operators to directly implement new business models, such as mobile television, targeted data broadcasting, and interactive formats.

Advanced automation features ensure maximum efficiency in daily operations. For example, R&S®Auto-Doherty optimizes performance in real time for every operating point. Developed according to the principles of "Secure by Design," TM1 transmitters help operators meet cybersecurity requirements, enabling the safe and stable operation of critical broadcasting infrastructure.

A key, industry-first feature is the TM1 Renewal option: broadcast network operators can cost-effectively upgrade existing previous-generation equipment to achieve the full functionality and performance of a modern TM1. The effort required to upgrade existing transmitters is significantly less than that required to deploy a new system. By extending the lifespan of current equipment, operators dramatically reduce the time, space, and capital expenditure typically required for network modernization.

“The R&S®TM1 is a future-proof solution that combines uncompromising RF performance with high sustainability. By upgrading the TM1 and providing native support for 5G Broadcast and ATSC 3.0, we are helping network operators immediately reduce their operating costs and carbon footprint, while laying the technological foundation for future revenue streams,” explains Maurice Uhlmann, Product Manager at Rohde & Schwarz.
