The tests were conducted using CIG's O-RU and Keysight's Open RAN Studio, signal source and analyzer solutions that create an environment for analyzing the modulation of new 5G radio (NR). As a result, CIG and other O-RU manufacturers can accelerate design verification for products based on the specifications defined by the O-RAN Alliance. CIG is part of a network infrastructure ecosystem using O-RAN fronthaul interfaces to unlock the full potential of the open RAN architecture.
“We rely on partners like Keysight to efficiently develop and validate open RAN standards-based network elements, including O-RAN-compliant small cells and distributed units,” said Haibo Zhao, founder and chief technology officer (CTO) at CIG. “Working with Keysight, which has expertise across many domains, allows CIG to obtain critical data for developing and manufacturing a flexible infrastructure that enables diverse use cases relevant to consumers and vertical industries.”
Keysight, the first test solutions provider to release O-RAN Distributed Unit (O-DU) emulation software for validating O- RAN-compliant O-RUs, has helped accelerate the development of conformance validation and interoperability verification between O-RUs and O-DUs. Keysight’s Open RAN Studio integrates with its Pathwave signal generation and vector signal analysis (VSA) software for advanced modulation and radio performance analysis.
“Together with key partners like CIG, we are advancing the development of a virtualized and disaggregated network architecture based on O-RAN specifications,” said Giampaolo Tardioli, Keysight Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s Network Access Group. “The future of ubiquitous wireless connectivity requires end-to-end performance verification of 5G network elements across multiple domains, including radio frequency (RF), millimeter waves, and the O-RAN protocol.”
Addressing the challenges of multiport and multisite testing
Devices with multiple ports require fast and accurate multiport network analysis. Optimize your vector network analyzer configuration to minimize testing costs for these devices.
