This system offers engineers specializing in ICs, devices, and high-speed networks a complete solution for performing automatic conformance testing of transmitters and receivers, as well as verifying link equalization.
The Anritsu/Teledyne LeCroy solution is easily expandable up to 32 Gb/s, making it the first end-to-end solution to meet PCI Express 5.0 (PCIe Gen5) requirements. The system is also capable of performing transmitter, receiver, and link equalization testing for PCI Express 3.0 (PCIe Gen3), thus providing comprehensive coverage for the PCI Express ecosystem.

“Anritsu and Teledyne LeCroy share a common goal: to provide engineers with readily available, highly accurate, and efficient testing solutions to verify their most advanced designs. Our joint solution, which integrates the MP1900A SQA and the LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope, fills the market gap for a complete physical layer for PCIe Gen4 that can be easily upgraded to PCIe Gen5 as high-speed networking technologies continue to develop,” said Paul Innis, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu Company.
“PCIe Gen4 presents significant testing challenges for design engineers. Our collaborative testing solution leverages two top-tier instruments to accurately measure and validate product performance according to PCI-SIG standards. Recognizing the imminent arrival of PCIe Gen5 within two years, we have protected our customers’ investments by creating a clear and efficient upgrade path that will control testing costs,” stated Conrad Fernandes, Vice President of Sales at Teledyne LeCroy.

Top-Tier Performance:
With a high-speed 2.4 Gb/sa BERT (32.1 Gb/s), the SQA MP1900A can perform highly accurate link validity/equalization analysis and LTTSM (Link Training and Status State Machine) testing. It combines an internal pulse-pattern generator (PPG) with 10-point emphasis and incorporates an error detector (ED) with high input sensitivity and clock recovery, as well as the 12 dB variable continuous-time linear equalization (CTLE) and link negotiation functions required for PCI Express receiver testing. Its ability to generate high-quality waveforms allows the MP1900A to perform reliable jitter and noise tolerance testing.
The LabMaster 10-25Zi-A oscilloscope provides the necessary 25 GHz bandwidth for transmitter testing and receiver calibration on PCIe Gen4, and its bandwidth can be upgraded to next-generation serial standards of 32 Gb/s and higher. The LabMaster 10-25Zi-A and the upcoming QPHY-PCIe4-Tx-Rx software option provide all the automation and control required for transmitter, receiver, and link equalization testing on PCIe Gen4 when used with the Anritsu MP1900A. PCI Express interface debugging is simple and intuitive with integrated eye diagram and jitter analysis tools, as well as PCI Express decoding with waveform logging and tabular analysis.
