Thanks to Genesys 2014, designers can now simulate digitally modulated radio frequency signals, such as those found in today's mobile, defense, and consumer applications, as easily as they simulate traditional analog radio frequency signals. Unlike other simulators that only provide results for a single value of error vector magnitude (EVM), bit error rate (BER), or adjacent channel relative power (ACPR), Genesys 2014 delivers innovative and affordable system analysis of these digital modulation metrics for every component included in the system block diagram, in a single step. This gives radio designers the entirely new ability to immediately identify the components responsible for digital malfunctions.

Genesys 2014's precise digital modulation analysis is based on a new integrated digital data stream simulator that also enables easy verification against the latest mobile standards for 802.11ac WLAN and LTE-3GPP. The software's test menus come pre-configured with the appropriate defaults, so RF designers no longer need to spend time configuring complex data stream parameters they are unfamiliar with to verify their circuits or systems against mobile standards.

“When designing the new modulated RF capability in Genesys 2014, we wanted it to be very intuitive for RF designers,” says How-Siang Yap, Genesys Product Planning Director on the EDA EEsof team at Agilent. “We achieved this by mimicking what RF designers do on the bench with sources and vector analyzers. Genesys 2014 can now automatically handle all the complexity of data stream sources, dissipation, and their parameters in a way that is completely transparent to the user.”.

New software improvements

Genesys 2014 modernizes its most powerful direct synthesis technology for seamless workplace integration and enables the interactive design of multiple custom filters simultaneously. This contributes to the accurate design of diplexers, multiplexers, and band-stop filters. Powerful equivalent network transforms can then be employed, allowing designers to simulate their designs on clustered or distributed printed circuit boards.

Genesys 2014 now also incorporates the largest selection of X-parameter models* from various vendors for nonlinear circuit and system simulations. This functionality helps establish the software as the industry's most affordable, accurate, and user-friendly radio frequency simulation and synthesis solution.

The powerful additional updates in Genesys 2014 include a new Momentum planar electromagnetic simulator, as well as a 3D design visualizer, an improved phase noise simulation algorithm, and full MATLAB Script support.
