The company also presented comprehensive software tools for the creation and analysis of 5G New Radio (NR) signals, designed to accelerate the development and validation of 5G product designs by chipset and device manufacturers at booths 6G30 and 6O3MR in Hall 6.
Semiconductor companies that manufacture 5G chipsets must adapt to new demands from a wide variety of applications. This means they will need to comply with new interface standards and support extended frequencies, lower latencies, and new waveforms.
“Keysight partnered from the outset with leading chipset and device manufacturers to deliver a common set of 5G design and simulation resources that can be used across the entire 5G ecosystem,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of wireless devices and carriers at Keysight. “Keysight solutions accurately emulate the network, measure 5G devices, base stations, and massive subscriber behavior scenarios to reduce errors and accelerate cycle time. Keysight has applied its expertise in radio frequency, millimeter wave, protocol, and IP networks to develop solutions that enable chipset manufacturers to master the complexities of 5G and innovate, transform, and gain market share rapidly.”.
Keysight 5G Solutions for Chipset and Device Manufacturers
At MWC, Keysight showcased the first 4Gbps 28GHz 5G data stream with the company's 5G network emulator integrated with millimeter wave OTA solutions for RF, functionality, and performance testing.
In addition, Keysight has announced that it will introduce exclusive end-to-end 5G NR device workflow solutions that streamline the product workflow from the initial prototyping and development phase through design validation and manufacturing. These solutions leverage common development tools to eliminate siloed datasets and share design insights gained at every stage of the device lifecycle. As a result, chipset and device manufacturers can accelerate the time to market for new 5G NR products.
Keysight also enables the device ecosystem to cost-effectively validate 5G millimeter-wave devices and accelerate early production with its proprietary 5G signalless millimeter-wave transceiver solution, covering the 28 GHz and 39 GHz frequency bands. Showcased at MWC, it allows manufacturers to move from R&D to design verification testing (DVT) and manufacturing as they scale up the number of 5G chipsets and devices. It also offers a flexible and easy setup for 5G millimeter-wave test scenarios with multiple devices under test using the latest 5G NR standard.
In addition, Keysight will showcase the first 5G NR software solutions available on the market, covering the complete product design lifecycle with signal simulation, generation, and analysis, including uplink and downlink directions, enabling both transmitter and receiver simulation and testing. Keysight's software solutions comply with the 3GPP Release 15 TS 38 5G specification and are integrated with Keysight's extensive range of signal generators and analyzers, including 5G NR software solutions.
The early availability of Keysight's 5G NR-compatible software solutions enables chipset and device manufacturers to simulate, prototype, and validate physical layer implementations of 5G NR-compatible chipsets and devices with greater knowledge and confidence, accelerating their time to market. Keysight's solutions include the SystemVue W1906EP 5G Baseband Verification Library for simulating 5G NR signals, the N7631C Signal Studio Pro for 5G NR software for waveform creation, the 89600 BHN VSA option for 5G NR modulation analysis, and the N9085E 5G NR X-Series Measurement Application Software for 5G NR signal analysis for design and testing.
Keysight will also showcase the industry’s first integrated cellular + wifi protocol verification solution, which enables network operators to simultaneously test cellular and wifi signaling, from data traffic generation to physical transmission, across layers 1 to 7. This comprehensive testing allows network equipment manufacturers to verify device interoperability across licensed and unlicensed spectrum, while significantly reducing time to market.
Services across the 5G ecosystem:
Testing departments are constantly under pressure to do more with less. The days of operating with a spreadsheet and guessing how test assets were being used are no longer sustainable.
Keysight understands these pressures and is introducing test asset optimization services to help companies move from monitoring to full control of their test equipment. Keysight’s integrated solution provides real-time test asset utilization data, equipment health status, and comprehensive recommendations on areas for savings. This powerful, industry-first solution provides utility transparency across multi-vendor test assets, enabling companies to make informed decisions about current and future provisioning needs. Keysight is offering a free assessment of how test asset optimization services can uncover hidden costs for all organizations across the 5G ecosystem.
