With their compact design, the Scalance W778-1 M12 access points and W738-1 M12 client modules offer cost-effective, cabinet-free installation in harsh industrial environments. A rugged exterior is achieved through a reinforced, IP65-rated die-cast aluminum housing and screw-in connectors, providing enhanced shock and vibration resistance. Multiple installation options include flat DIN rail mounting with a DIN rail adapter, side DIN rail mounting with an angle adapter, or wall mounting. Installation is further simplified by the ability to connect both power and data to IP65-rated devices via a single cable using IEEE 802.3at Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), minimizing wiring and reducing commissioning time. Their industrial-grade design allows for quick and easy integration into TIA environments. With 2x2:2 MIMO, they offer data transfer rates of up to 300 Mbit/s, and also feature N-Connect antenna terminals, two M12 Ethernet ports (10/100 Mbit/s, code D) and a redundant 24 volt (v) M12 power connection.
The wide range of direct and remote mounting antennas (omnidirectional, directional, or sector antennas) and RCoax accessories (such as cables or plug-in connectors) are available in various protection ratings, completing Siemens' IWLAN portfolio. Potential applications include any type of industrial application requiring on-site wireless networking, such as welding robots or screw-driving controllers in automotive production, or connecting automated guided vehicles to a control system. Like all products in the Scalance portfolio, the devices include special software functions (iFeatures) for industrial applications. These include iPCF, iPCF-MC for client mode, iPRP, and iREF.
