While UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) services will not be able to provide a stable revenue stream for operators for the next few years, Long-Term Evolution (LTE) 4G services are growing at a much faster pace. X-Site offers a seamless evolution from UMTS and 2x2 LTE MIMO networks to high-speed MIMO networks, with three key features: cascaded remote radio unit (RRU), vertical sector division, and self-adaptive antenna.
The cascaded RRU connects the individual RRUs for different bands directly to each other and links the radio unit to the antenna via radio frequency (RF) cables, enabling multi-band services at a single site without changing existing antennas or requiring external combiners. This not only saves on material costs but also reduces engineering costs and accelerates time-to-market.
Vertical segmentation of the sector helps increase network capacity without investing in new antennas and without the need for additional planning, making instant deployment possible to give operators a competitive advantage.
