The Open Compute Project is an industry consortium dedicated to combining the best available technologies in the development of standardized hardware with high-speed, high-bandwidth capabilities.

The Small Form Factor (SFF) Committee defined and adopted NearStack PCIe as the SFF-TA-1026 standard, and OCP recommends the technology as “TA-1026” for server reference designs. NearStack PCIe has also been included in the OCP Modular - Extensible I/O (M-XIO) and Modular - Full Width HPM Form Factor (M-FLW) specifications as part of the Modular Hardware Systems (DC-MHS) family – OCP Next Generation Data Center.
As part of an open SFF standard, the technology is available to second-source vendors under a Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (RAND) license. Licenses for NearStack PCIe have already been granted through second-source licensing, with additional licenses being offered to multiple vendors. This strategy ensures interoperability between Molex and other vendors while creating a robust supply chain.

NearStack PCIe further simplifies integration with its hybrid cable support, featuring a NearStack PCIe connector on one end and a pre-existing connector on the other. These connectors provide a seamless upgrade path for existing systems, allowing customers to take advantage of the new technology immediately without having to redesign or replace their existing hardware.
