The Hirose IX Series IEC PAS 61076-3-124 I/O connector consists of a plug and receptacle that supports CAT5e and CAT6a cabling. With continuous 360-degree shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electrostatic discharge (ESD), the IX Series provides safe, high-speed transmission rates of up to 10 Gbps.
The push-in I/O connector features a positive metal locking mechanism with a preloaded spring that provides a clear tactile click and ensures a secure, complete mating. The preloaded springs are designed to prevent unintentional cable pull-out and extend the connector's lifespan to over 5,000 mating/unmapping cycles. The connector requires only a quarter of the installation area of RJ45 solutions and saves up to 28% of space compared to snap-in I/O connectors.
The receptacle's narrow width is particularly beneficial when multiple connectors are placed side-by-side on a single PCB. The receptacle housing is mounted to the PCB via through-hole solder pins to improve PCB retention and resist twisting of the cable assembly, helping to protect the SMT cables. The single-plug housing integrates a cable termination unit and cable clamp, preventing the connection portion of the cable assembly from being affected by the load on the cable.
The IX series I/O connector has a rated current of 0.5 A (all pins), 1 A (two pins) and 2 A (pins #1 and #8 only), an operating temperature range of less than -40 to 80 degrees Celsius, and a rated voltage of 30V AC.
