Yamaichi Electronics introduces the SFP28 host connector for a data transmission rate of 56 Gbps with PAM-4 modulation per channel. This connector is used in server and switch applications. It is fully compatible with the SFF-8084 and SFF-8402 standards as an interface connector for attaching a 0.8 mm pitch card edge connector.
Therefore, this connector is mechanically compatible with other generations of SFP connectors, such as 10 Gbps and 16 Gbps. It can be used as a replacement, with the same footprint as previous generations of edge-mount SFP modules.
