SMC connectors with a 1.27 mm pitch have been in successful use for approximately 20 years and have undergone continuous improvements. The key design features of the SMC series include a patented, double-sided spring contact for excellent HF performance and an extremely secure connection, a high-temperature resistant polarized insulator for an exceptionally secure bond, and SMT connection technology with 100% controlled coplanarity of the tiny contact pins.
Various modules, such as straight and angled male and female connectors, along with SMT and IDC connectors, offer users maximum design versatility. Press-fit male connectors are also available for miniature backplanes. These connectors are often used in entirely different locations within a system to create backplane, mezzanine, flat cable, and coplanar connections. For versatile auxiliary mounting designs, other versions with various heights are available to create mezzanine distances from 8 to 20 mm. The distance can be increased to 40 mm using plate-to-plate adapters.
