Samtec's SEARAY™ high-density board edge connector line maximizes routing flexibility and speed, featuring Edge Rate™ contacts optimized for signal integrity.
The 1.27 mm pitch system is available with up to 500 I/O pins in heights from 4 mm to 40 mm. A right-angle version is available for micro backplane applications, and a press-fit tail option provides even greater system flexibility. Meanwhile, the 0.80 mm pitch system offers up to 50% board space savings with 7 mm and 10 mm heights. A low-profile version is currently under development.
The Q Rate® high-speed patch strips with a 0.80 mm pitch feature an industry-standard ground/power plane that allows Edge Rate™ contacts to be placed closer together without degrading signal performance. The result is a slim, 5 mm body design to help minimize PCB footprint. The QRF8/QRM8 series is available with up to 156 I/O points in 7 mm and 10 mm heights.
Samtec also presents its new QSFP+ active optical cable system, which features an optical engine that significantly outperforms traditional copper cables in bandwidth, distance, and cable density. The optical engine converts the electrical signal to optical with four transmission channels offering an aggregate bandwidth of 40 or 56 Gbps. The lightweight QSFPO series cable system meets the QSFP MSA form factor specifications, supports InfiniBand and Ethernet protocols, and features a 3mm diameter cable with lengths up to 100 meters. A complete active optical cable system of motors, connectors, and assembled cables for PCIe® Gen 1, 2, and 3 applications is also under development.
