These new CANopen gateways allow any device with CANopen slave functionality to communicate with almost any other fieldbus or industrial Ethernet network. The gateway series includes versions for all popular fieldbuses, such as Profibus, DeviceNet, Modbus, ControlNet, and Industrial Ethernet with Profinet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and Modbus-TCP, including 2-port switch technology for daisy-chain Ethernet connections (to save on Industrial Ethernet switches).
Typical applications include integrating CANopen-based devices into higher-level fieldbus or Industrial Ethernet network systems that form the core architecture of an installation. The Anybus-X gateway for CANopen is specifically designed for use in machinery and especially for manufacturers in the machine building, transportation, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, and all types of power distribution and control applications, including renewable energy.
Typical applications include communication between control equipment (PLCs, DCSs), for example, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, Beckhoff, and ABB PLCs, and devices such as variable frequency drives, sensors, actuators, or measuring equipment with a CANopen interface.
The gateways integrate seamlessly into any type of industrial automation system, ensuring transparent data flow between CANopen fieldbuses and up to 10 other fieldbuses or industrial Ethernet networks.
The upstream fieldbus or industrial Ethernet slave link is configured using a standard device description file (GSD/EDS) and the standard PLC configuration tool. No programming is required. Input/output data is communicated transparently through the gateway between the two fieldbus/Ethernet networks via PDOs in CANopen.
Any standard CANopen tool can be used to configure the master CANopen interface. The Anybus-X CANopen is supplied with a CANopen configuration tool included in the gateway price. This tool can be downloaded from the support pages at anybus.com (the tool is only for configuring Anybus products).
