To enable future OT/TI convergence, the industrial-grade edge gateway has been further optimized for IIoT applications in factory automation, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and the energy, oil, and gas sectors.

Moxa's IIoT Edge Gateway integrates Moxa's industrial protocol expertise, offers 10 years of long-term Linux support, and facilitates optimized device management for large-scale deployments. Moxa will showcase the Azure-enabled IIoT Edge Gateway at the IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona from October 16-18, 2018. The presentation will focus on solutions that provide cloud integration and multi-protocol conversions for IIoT applications while preserving existing industrial infrastructure investments.

Integrating Azure IoT Edge into Moxa IIoT gateways running Moxa Industrial Linux benefits customers with the product's long lifespan and secure file system write capabilities, as well as enhanced security thanks to continuous security patches released over 10 years of support. Combining these features with Moxa's industrial protocol expertise provides cloud connectivity for existing legacy applications.

“We are excited about our participation in Azure as this will allow our customers to leverage Moxa’s three decades of OT, industrial networking, and protocol expertise, while also facilitating greater integration with Microsoft’s IT expertise,” said Andy Cheng, President of Moxa Inc.’s Strategic Business Unit. “The Azure cloud infrastructure with Azure Stream Analytics, machine learning, device provisioning, and security, combined with Moxa’s device connectivity, configuration, and industrial protocols, provides an integrated starting point for our industrial IoT customers.”

The compact edge gateway is powered by a low-power 1 GHz Arm® Cortex™-A8 processor and integrates seamlessly into industrial IoT environments with numerous advantages, including the following:

• Moxa Industrial Linux based on the open Debian platform with 10 years of long-term support
• Fanless, industrial-grade design and DIN rail mounting
• Wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C with LTE module installed
• Dual auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet ports

"Moxa has worked closely with our teams to integrate into our Azure IoT ecosystem with its IIoT Edge Gateway. We are delighted that they are offering Azure IoT Edge pre-installed to streamline the initial customer experience with developing and ultimately deploying Azure IoT solutions. Moxa brings a wealth of OT expertise to our Azure ecosystem," says Sam George, Director of Azure IoT at Microsoft Corp.

Moxa's 10-year proprietary Linux support for Moxa Industrial Linux addresses the long-term software needs of the energy, hydro, oil and gas, transportation, and building automation industries. It also offers a comprehensive range of security updates that ensure the security and sustainability of IIoT projects.
