Raritan provides flexibility and faster access to enterprise IT teams
The new version of CommandCenter Secure Gateway provides unparalleled performance, scalability, and flexibility in managing IT resources, from compact and virtualized servers to power management devices.
CC-SG manages virtualized servers, physical servers, blade (compact) systems, networking equipment, and intelligent power management devices such as Raritan's Dominion® PX PDU, which collects detailed measurement and migration information on servers connected to its multi-outlet.
The new CC-SG software version 4.1 allows the creation of environments with up to 10 CC-SG units operating simultaneously, enabling the management of multiple data centers from a single portal. Environment configuration also improves access performance by distributing IT access across the CC-SG units. Node and device access can be distributed across the CC-SG units within a data center at the regional or organizational level.
CC-SG eliminates time-consuming multiple connections and the need to open multiple interfaces to reach the IT team. From the CC-SG portal, users can easily choose the type of remote access best suited to their task, including embedded or in-band software applications, in-band and out-of-band KVM, or serial access.
Unlike other solutions on the market, CC-SG does not require complex database replication schemes that unnecessarily consume excessive network resources. Nor is there a single point of failure. The environments do not require a "super drive," a "network hub," or another single point of system administration, so a local failure will not affect the entire environment.
The flexible environment architecture allows CC-SG units to be deployed to best suit the organization's evolving IT infrastructure needs. For example, administrators can assign specific servers, device types, or business units to a single CC-SG, or distribute multiple CC-SG units across departments, data centers, or regions. This will benefit multinational organizations, companies with numerous remote offices, or those that simply want maximum flexibility in structuring their IT access solution based on a wide range of variables.
“IT staff are under pressure to keep up with constantly changing business needs and increase uptime and security while reducing costs,” said Peter Suriani, director of product management at Raritan. “We created the CommandCenter Secure Gateway family of management solutions to meet these challenges. Through a simple search screen, the CC-SG provides unified visibility and a single point of secure access and control to all types of IT equipment—at the application, operating system, and BIOS levels.”.
Another key enhancement in CC-SG 4.1 is support for blade server access when used with Raritan's Dominion® KX-II KVM-over-IP solution. Access to blade solutions from Dell, IBM, and HP is also supported. CC-SG provides multiple blade server views, including a device view that displays blade servers organized by their architecture. Custom views allow you to view and organize blade servers by a variety of dimensions, such as site, rack, application, or organization.
Availability
The CommandCenter Secure Gateway 4.1 is available worldwide through Raritan's distribution channels. The Linux®-based application is available in two models: the CC-SG E1 – a 2U dual-power-supply model; and the CC-SG V1 – a 1U single-power-supply model. The CC-SG is self-contained and comes with all essential features built into the application, including authentication and web access.
