Spirent Temeva, a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution for network and cloud testing, initially offers three web-based applications that cover everything from network traffic and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) testing, infrastructure benchmarking to cloud performance and capacity planning.
Temeva addresses a number of challenges businesses face today when selecting testing tools to validate next-generation networking and virtualized infrastructures. Users have to manage multiple software vendors and licensing frameworks, and the resulting mix of applications becomes very complex and costly to access, share, and maintain. Often, the results are inconsistent, making it difficult to identify trends and correlations.

The new Temeva platform provides businesses with a browser-based solution to address these challenges. It automatically stores all test configurations, data, and reports in a secure repository. This repository can be conveniently accessed from anywhere, on any device, via a web-based portal, where test metrics can be transformed into analytics and scores. Temeva features an intuitive dashboard that inventories all purchased applications and licenses, allowing administrators to easily manage usage and make informed future purchasing decisions. Test reports are scored with Pass/Fail ratings, providing network answers in minutes to identify the root cause of network issues and validate service-level agreements (SLAs).

Using the Temeva delivery platform, Spirent presents specific applications on a subscription basis, while updates are run in real time and made available to users without delay.

The first three trial applications available on Temeva are:

• Spirent TrafficCenter: a web-based network testing application for testing and validating network connectivity, design, and traffic flow. Features of the TrafficCenter application include Layer 2 and Layer 3 traffic generation, drag-and-drop traffic flows and mixes, health indicators, enhanced live results, and test reports.

• Spirent MethodologyCenter: a method-driven application with standardized test scenario features for NFV infrastructure, virtual network function (VNF), and network benchmarking.

• Spirent CloudStress: an infrastructure benchmarking application designed for performance and capacity planning for compute, memory, storage, and network I/O, featuring dynamic workloads to validate cloud and virtualized infrastructure.

“Enterprises face enough challenges integrating modern cloud and network infrastructure into their environments. They shouldn’t have to deal with these challenges when testing and validating,” says Abhitesh Kastuar, general manager of Spirent Communications. “Temeva addresses these hard points and provides a single, unified SaaS platform to enable enterprises to easily access and manage all the applications and methodologies they need to measure the performance and scale of their networks and clouds.”
