The new connection system features high-performance USB 3.0 connectors. They have the same shape and fit as standard USB 2.0 connectors, but operate at ten times the speed of USB 2.0, transmitting data at speeds of up to 5 Gbits/second.
USB 3.0 is the third version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) specification. It is an improvement over USB 2.0's 60 MB/s (480 Mbps) by offering a new SuperSpeed mode, which allows speeds of up to 625 MB/s (5 Gbps). All USB devices have an upstream connection to the host, and all hosts have a downstream connection to the device.
