Signal conditionersManufactured using TI's high-performance SiGe BiCMOS process technology, these signal conditioners offer high performance in signal range, with less than 6 mW per gigabit.

These new devices, the DS1xxDF410, DS1xxRT410 and DS100KRxxx families, offer the following features:

- Extend the upper reach to +50 inches of FR-4 backplane or 20 meters of AWG 26 copper cable.
- Attenuation (DE) of 36 dB input EQ and 12 dB output.
- Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE).
- Clock and data recovery (CDR) with internal clock synthesis.
- Repeaters consume 65 mW per channel; timers with CDR consume 150 mW per channel.
- Fully adaptive EQ simplifies link adjustment.
- Internal clock synthesis eliminates the need for an external reference clock.
- Built-in “Built-in eye” monitor and PRBS generator simplifies system debugging.
- Individual power supply without the need for external RF shocks.

These signal conditioners are used to drive direct-attached optical and copper cables on latency-sensitive, front-line port cards while meeting SFF8431 (SFP+) specifications. They can also be used to compensate for loss and crosstalk on motherboards and to reduce the gauge of active copper wire assemblies. Offered as a pin-compatible IC family, system designers can choose from repeaters (EQ and DE drivers), retimers (EQ, CDR, and DE drivers), and advanced retimers (EQ, CDR, DFE, and DE drivers) to achieve the desired link performance and system cost without requiring board redesign.
