This family of adapters is divided into three series. The H-USB2-100X-M series is designed to interface with RS232 and supports data rates of 1 Mbps per port, while the H-USB2-500X-M and H-USB2-600X-M series adapters interface with RS485 and RS422, respectively, with data transmission rates of up to 8 Mbps per port.
Offered in 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16-port configurations, each standard module uses a USB-B connector to connect the device to an upstream host or hub port. All of them incorporate a high-speed USB 2.0 bridge chip supplied by FTDI.
Each channel of these adapter modules features an industry-standard DE-9P connector. The single- and dual-port modules also include 5 mm terminal blocks per channel as an alternative interface option. These 5 mm terminal blocks are capable of supplying a 5 VDC output voltage at current levels up to 80 mA, and 30 mA for the DB-9 connector. An integrated transmitter and receiver LEDs provide visual indication of data traffic passing through the modules.
These products are housed in metal enclosures, allowing them to be used in harsh industrial environments. They have an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. All members of this family are fully compliant with FCC Part 15 Subpart B and the European EMC Directive.
The new modules require USB device drivers to make them appear as virtual COM ports (VCP).
