The router features simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and is an AX3000 class device. On the 2.4GHz band, it achieves speeds of up to 574 Mbps with its two antennas in a 2T2R MU-MIMO configuration, using a 40 MHz channel width and the Wi-Fi 6 standard. On the 5GHz band, it reaches speeds of up to 2,402 Mbps with the same two antennas in a 2T2R MU-MIMO configuration, using a 160 MHz channel width and the Wi-Fi 6 standard. The router supports a 160 MHz channel width to deliver a true 1 Gbps throughput with both antennas.

The FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber incorporates beamforming, which provides additional coverage over medium to long distances and greater connection stability; MU-MIMO to send data to multiple WiFi clients simultaneously; OFDMA, which offers up to four times more capacity on the WiFi network; and Target Wake Time, which saves energy and optimizes the network when some WiFi clients are not using it.

Using other FRITZ!Box routers, FRITZ!Repeater WiFi repeaters, and even FRITZ!Powerline devices, we can create a mesh WiFi network with FRITZ!Mesh.
The FRITZ!OS operating system supports WiFi roaming standards including 802.11k/v, and we also have Smart Connect to unify the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands and operate on the best possible frequency band.

It includes an SFP port for an SFP-to-GPON transceiver; the connector is LC instead of the more common SC (you'll need a fiber optic cable with an SC-to-LC connector). It also has a 2.5G Multigigabit LAN port and two Gigabit Ethernet LAN-only ports. However, it does not include USB ports.

In terms of security, we can configure both WPA2-Personal and WPA2/WPA3-Personal. For quick and easy connection, there's a "Connect/WPS" button that allows you to connect wireless devices and add other equipment to the mesh network. Of course, you can create guest Wi-Fi networks with WPA2/WPA3 encryption, but you can also leave the Wi-Fi network open and use OWE (without authentication but with data encryption).
There's a TAE port and an RJ-11 port for connecting analog phones, a DECT base station for connecting up to six cordless phones simultaneously (compatible with any phone that meets the standard), and AVM smart home devices.

The speed on the 1G ports exceeds 100MB/s in both LAN-LAN and LAN-WAN tests. Depending on the number of concurrent connections, performance may drop to 600MB/s, but in a home setup, this is unlikely to happen very often.

Regarding performance with WiFi 6, the router can exceed 300 Mbps in close proximity on the 2.4GHz band, and 1,200 Mbps on the 5GHz band also at a certain distance.

The web-based setup wizard is the standard one for routers from this manufacturer, which is quite intuitive, simple, and comprehensive in terms of configuration options.

Regarding telephony, it has the same configuration options as always, simple and with many parameters available for configuration.

We can confirm that this model will offer very good performance and speed with the addition of GPON fiber optic connectivity, and its price is more economical than other options on the market. We may miss USB connections and VLAN support per port for IPTV from multiple operators or Movistar FTTH's triple VLAN.

Finally, it should be added that the FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber router is outperformed by the FRITZ!Box 5590 Fiber, which offers greater features and a price difference of 100 euros.
