The WRT32X uses the Killer Prioritization Engine (KPE) to determine which devices connected to the router are enabled for use with Killer network hardware. This hardware can be found in gaming and high-performance PCs and motherboards from brands such as Dell® (both Alienware and XPS models), Gigabyte, MSI, and Razer, as well as Acer®, Lenovo®, and others.
The KPE works in conjunction with computers that support Killer solutions to prioritize important gaming and video traffic over that of other home devices. When a game is launched, the computer's Killer hardware communicates with the router and requests that it process the game's data packets in a special, priority manner. Even if the router is slowed down by other users, the WRT32X can maintain smooth, uninterrupted gameplay by prioritizing Killer solution gaming traffic over other home network traffic. Conversely, the computer also communicates with the router when there are minor activities (such as a download), so that the router prevents that download from affecting the Internet experience of other users in your home.
If a user configures Killer Control Center to prioritize video streaming, the WRT32X will process these packets as if they were the most valuable and ensure that no other household activity slows down the movement of these video streaming packets across the network.
The WRT32X gaming wireless router includes the following enterprise-class hardware as standard: a 1.8 GHz dual-core ARM CPU, 3x3 dual-band 802.11ac Wave 2 wireless radio, 256 MB of Flash memory and 512 MB of DDR3 memory, and a SOHO-level 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with TCAM. For software, the core firmware uses the latest stable Linux kernel version to achieve a lightweight, accelerated codebase with low latency as a priority.
Key features of the WRT32X router:
• This Wi-Fi router, specifically designed for gaming, identifies and prioritizes gaming network traffic over all other traffic, giving users a competitive edge.
• Synchronization with Killer-compatible computers prioritizes gaming traffic on both wired and Wi-Fi connections.
• Killer's network prioritization engine reduces peak ping time by up to 77%* for faster response times.
