SRM 1.1 beta offers more professional network management, as well as analysis tools for tech enthusiasts and those working from home. It also allows users to keep their networks secure and assess bandwidth needs and requirements.
SRM 1.1 beta includes the following new features:
- Smart Connection: With Smart Connection functionality, devices automatically connect to the most appropriate band – 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz – based on predefined or customized criteria, allowing users to enjoy the best Wi-Fi experience without worrying about technical details.
- Smart WAN: For those who need a seamless network connection, Smart WAN allows the Synology Router RT1900ac to connect to the internet through two network interfaces, facilitating automatic network failover and load balancing. Customizable routing policies make it possible to direct traffic to a specific interface based on the source or destination address.
- Traffic reports: This new software has the ability to generate easy-to-understand reports that detail traffic over a specific period of time, allowing administrators to better understand network requirements, check if some devices or applications are consuming too much bandwidth, and investigate security issues.
- Intrusion Prevention: With the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), SRM 1.1 beta can analyze network traffic with the aim of detecting and blocking malicious packets and intrusion requests to the user's local network.
- Content Filter: Parental control and traffic filtering now include Google SafeSearch integration and the ability to add three customizable profiles to adjust and block access to different family members or employees.
- File synchronization and backups: SRM 1.1 beta supports running Synology's popular Cloud Station Suite cloud storage system, allowing users to set up a synchronized private file server or back up files from Windows, Mac, and Linux computers in real time with the Cloud Station Backup application.
