The x610 series has a range of port density and uplink connectivity options, allowing customers to choose between 24-port or 48-port versions. Unlike the previous range of switches (x600) that only allowed four units per stack, this new family can be stacked up to eight units high.
The new products also boast robust convergence capabilities, supported by a suite of key features for voice, video, and data. Furthermore, the PoE models support the high-power PoE+ standard, delivering up to 30W per port compared to only 15.4W per port for the x600 family. To enhance flexibility, the x610 series is offered with three alternative power supplies:
-AT-PWR250 System Power Only – This does not support any PoE power and is used to future-proof a network without adding the cost of PoE.
-AT-PWR800 800W PoE Power Supply – This provides 250W of system power and at least 480W of PoE power.
-AT-PWR1200 1200W PoE Power Supply – This provides 250W of system power and at least 800W of PoE power, allowing a 24-port switch to deliver PoE+ at 30W continuously on all ports.
The same power supplies can also be used for an optional redundant power supply chassis, either by providing additional PoE power to an existing switch stack, or by providing redundancy backup to a failing power supply.
The x610 series can act as a Virtual Chassis Stack (VCStack) manager, meaning that traffic is seamlessly routed to another switch in the event of a failure, without any network disruption. This not only reduces costs and provides excellent scalability, but also allows the stack to be managed as a single network node, simplifying management tasks.
The x610 series also features VRF Lite support, a new feature that allows multiple VLANs to reside on the switch, enabling end devices to use the same IP addresses – but across separate VLANs. Additionally, this new product automatically routes voice traffic to a separate VLAN to ensure high priority for voice traffic.
