Aware of this technological transition of wired network infrastructures, D-Link is adapting its extensive portfolio of switches to Multi-Gigabit, from unmanaged desktop models (DMS-105, DMS-107, DMS-108, DMS-106XT) to intermediate ranges with Smart management and PoE (DMS-1100-10TP) and reaching the stackable Managed Enterprise L3 level with the DMS-3130 range, not forgetting hybrid options such as the DGS-1520, stackable Managed Gigabit Switches with 4 2.5G ports and PoE options. As part of this migration to Multi-Gigabit, the Taiwanese manufacturer has just announced that its DXS-1210 range of native 10 Gigabit switches is now Multi-Gigabit. The standard copper RJ-45 ports, as well as the combo SFP+ ports, are Multi-Gigabit compatible to meet the connection needs of devices with link speeds of 1/2.5/5/10G. Therefore, the DXS-1210 series is positioned as a range capable of integrating not only into network cores or server farms with its 10G copper or fiber ports (with 25G uplinks in the case of the DXS-1210-28T), but can also be deployed as distribution or edge switches to connect NAS units, high-performance workstations, and other devices.

The D-Link DXS-1210 10 Gigabit Multi-Gigabit Smart Managed Switches family consists of the following models:
• DXS-1210-10TS: 8p 1/2.5/5/10GBASE-T and 2p SFP+
• DXS-1210-12TC: 8p 1/2.5/5/10GBASE-T, 2p SFP+, 2p SFP+ Combo
• DXS-1210-12SC: 10p 10G SFP+, 2p SFP+ Combo
• DXS-1210-16TC: 12p 1/2.5/5/10GBASE-T, 2p SFP+, 2p SFP+ Combo
• DXS-1210-28T: 24p 10GBASE-T and 4p 25 Gigabit SFP28
• DXS-1210-28S: 24p 10G SFP+ and 4p 10GBASE-T

The D-Link DXS-1210 Smart Managed series can be managed via a web interface or through the console port for a full command-line interface (CLI). It can also be integrated with D-View 8, an SNMP manager for advanced network monitoring.

Among the Layer 2 features, the most notable are comprehensive network segmentation management using VLANs (802.1Q VLAN, Port-based VLAN, Voice VLAN, Auto Surveillance VLAN, Asymmetric VLAN), port mirroring, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) for link aggregation. They also integrate Layer 3 features such as Static Routing to improve network performance by reducing the load on routers and backbones.

Regarding network security, an increasingly important element given the constant rise in attacks and intrusions against business networks, the DXS-1210 series offers the innovative D-Link Safeguard Engine™ security engine, which works to protect the network against traffic flooding caused by malicious attacks. In addition, they support 802.1X port-based and host-based authentication for network access control, as well as familiar features such as MAC address, Access Control Lists (ACLs), ARP spoofing prevention, traffic segmentation, and DHCP server screening to safeguard the network against threats.

This new family of switches also reinforces D-Link's commitment to the environment and energy efficiency, integrating D-Link Green technology, a true pioneer and precursor to today's IEEE 802.3az standard. They are capable of detecting the usage of each port to reduce its power consumption or disconnect it, as well as intelligently adjusting the use of fans and the power supply, significantly reducing power consumption while extending the reliability and lifespan of the components.

The D-Link DXS-1210 range of 10 Gigabit Multi-Gigabit Smart Managed Switches is now available through D-Link's professional channel network of distributors and resellers.
