The new WiFi 6 standards offer numerous benefits to businesses, including faster speeds and improved connectivity, but they also place greater demands on existing bandwidth capabilities. Multigigabit switches are key to delivering a reliable network that helps businesses unlock the potential of WiFi 6 when they are ready to upgrade.
Most gigabit switches provide speeds of 1G or 10G, limiting their flexibility when adding 2.5G or 5G devices. Zyxel's latest multigigabit switches, the XS1930 series, support variable speeds of 100Mb, 1Gb, 2.5Gb, 5Gb, and up to 10Gb. This makes them suitable for applications and devices that require varying network speeds in small and medium-sized business (SMB) offices. By upgrading to the XS1930 models, businesses can utilize existing cabling, leveraging their network investment and preparing for future expansion.
Having devices on a network with varying speeds, cable lengths, and cable quality results in mixed performance, making it difficult to determine the actual speed of each connection. The XS1930 series introduces the first five-color LED design. The lights flash with different colors and speeds, allowing administrators to easily identify the actual network performance. These indicators are much more intuitive for users, as they allow them to easily recognize port speeds based on their color.
The increasing adoption of mobile devices, along with IoT and WiFi 6 standards and their diverse applications, demands more power from the backbone network. The XS1930-12HP is compatible with the latest IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++) standard, providing a power budget of up to 375W, which meets the requirements of most WiFi 6 devices.
“Today, SMEs face a growing demand for wireless bandwidth for their daily operations, and the migration to WiFi 6 further accelerates this trend. Deploying a higher-performing WiFi network without compromising backbone servers can be challenging. Our new multigigabit switches are designed to deliver the network performance that every business needs,” explains Gonzalo Echeverría, country manager of Zyxel Spain.
The XS1930 series integrates with Zyxel NebulaFlex™, giving administrators the flexibility to switch between standalone mode and the Zyxel Nebula cloud. Existing Nebula users can benefit from WiFi 6 across a full range of solutions, from the backbone to the edge of the connection.
Despite its high bandwidth, the XS1930 switch consumes only 28-50 dBA of power. It is quiet and ideal for small offices, boutique hotels, hostels, or businesses open to the public. The XS1930 series includes two models: the XS1930-10, with 8 multigig ports and 2 fiber uplinks; and the XS1930-12HP with 8 PoE multigig ports, 2 multigig ports, and 2 fiber uplinks.
