Switches for use in Profinet or EtherNet/IP environments cover distances of up to 15 kilometers thanks to their two integrated fiber optic ports (multimode or single-mode). This allows for the connection of widely separated network segments. With integrated Profinet equipment functionality, these switches are ideally suited for use in Profinet control systems. This enables users to configure and diagnose the switch via the control system. Furthermore, easy replacement of the equipment is facilitated by automatic proximity detection and acceptance of configuration settings. When switching to EtherNet/IP mode, the switch automatically activates the relevant EtherNet/IP multicast functions, minimizing multicast traffic on the network.
Narrow managed switches for medium and long distances
Smart managed narrow switches are now also available with fiber optic ports for medium and long distances.
