Designed for networks supporting 20 or more employees with ever-increasing needs, the second generation of NETGEAR ProSAFE Plus switches increases speed across all models. This allows customers to build multiple user groups, prioritizing audio and video traffic through Quality of Service (QoS).
Along with the first generation of its eight-port PoE model, NETGEAR has added new 5-, 16-, and 24-port switches to the ProSAFE Gigabit family. These switches are ideal for powering devices such as IP phones and cameras, wireless access points, and Ethernet switches, eliminating the need for separate power lines.
A unique feature of the NETGEAR five-port PoE switch, for example, is that power is supplied exclusively through a PD (PoE Powered Device) port. As a result, it doesn't require an external power adapter and is completely independent of power outlets for maximum deployment flexibility. Furthermore, it offers power-sharing functionality to other connected devices such as Wi-Fi access points, IP phones, and cameras.
NETGEAR ProSAFE Plus switches address the growing need for greater intelligence in small and medium-sized business (SMB) networks by providing features that help optimize performance. They also offer traffic monitoring, allowing network administrators to observe traffic patterns and optimize them accordingly.
The second generation of NETGEAR's ProSAFE Plus Switch family includes improvements and likely benefits such as:
- Configuration and management of the entire network at the price of unmanaged switches.
- Gigabit connection with up to 2000 Mbps of dedicated, port-free broadband.
- VLAN support for traffic segmentation.
- Includes QoS (Quality of service) for traffic prioritization.
- Self-prevention of DoS (Denial of Service).
- Troubleshooting ability through cable testing.
- Controls to prevent "bottlenecks" and diffusion storms.
- Support for IGMP v1, v2 and v3 tracking for multi-distribution optimization.
- Limiting the transparency rate to improve bandwidth localization.
- Port mirroring for network monitoring.
- Port trunking for greater uplink bandwidth.
- Supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE802.3az) for maximum energy savings.
