These new solutions offer service providers the ability to significantly improve the quality of Triple Play services.
The VES-1616F and VES-1624F are a family of 1.5U VDSL2 switches with 16 and 24 ports respectively, providing bandwidth of up to 100 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream. This broadband capacity not only enables next-generation online services but also allows ISPs to deliver video, voice, and advanced data integration services over regular telephone lines.
The ZyXEL VES-1616F and VES-1624F, VDSL2 devices based on DMT solutions that allow dynamic margin adjustments depending on line conditions, offer excellent performance even on noisy lines. This eliminates the need for manual margin adjustments, saving time, to adapt to changing network noise levels. Both the IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Task Force and the T1E1.4 Working Group have selected the DMT solution as their worldwide standard for VDSL2 line coding.

These new devices support IEEE 802.3ad and feature load balancing and fault tolerance. To achieve load balancing, the VES-1616F and VES-1624F distribute data to each port based on the source and destination MAC addresses.
Thanks to IGMP snooping, the VES-1616F and VES-1624F provide improved quality in IP multicasting applications. This prevents unnecessary forwarding of multicast traffic to all subscribers, thus optimizing bandwidth usage for applications such as video streaming. Furthermore, Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) allows these switches to forward the same video signals to different devices within the same VLAN. This advanced technology significantly reduces video stream duplication, making these switches the ideal choice for MoD environments.

The VES-1616F and VES-1624F's rate-limiting feature allows service providers to restrict bandwidth to subscriber ports in 64 Kbps increments, enabling them to offer tiered service based on customer needs.
ZyXEL's new VDSL2 switches include a highly intuitive configuration panel and management tools for easy network administrator management. This web-based interface provides a user-friendly platform, independent management, and various configuration options. Both switches also support SNMP and MIBs and can be managed using standard management software. In addition to remote management capabilities, a console port is also available for local management.
