Ideal for outdoor applications and as a self-supporting FTTx drop cable, this fully dielectric range is characterized by a robust design and excellent mechanical strength.
Each CAR/R2 cable consists of one or two tightly wound G.657A type optical fibers, aramid yarns as a self-supporting element and a black LSZH outer jacket, made from a halogen-free, low smoke emission, flame retardant thermoplastic compound.
Its characteristics are: reduced diameter (2.5 x 5.2 mm), weight of 13 kg/m, tensile strength of up to 400 N, crush resistance of 600 N/10 cm and temperature range of -20 to +80 ºC.
To overcome any application requirement, the CAR/R2 provides different options, such as fiber type (R200 or R205), fiber identification by color code, LSZH-LT outer jacket (with ultraviolet protection and temperature range of -40 to +70 ºC) and special “Reel in a Box” packaging.
Furthermore, the CAR/R2 has successfully passed the mechanical and thermal tests of the EN187000 and IEC60794-1-2 standards respectively, as well as numerous fire resistance tests: UNE-EN 50265 (IEC 60332-1), UNE-EN 50267-1/2 (IEC60754-1/2) and UNE-EN 61034-1/2 (IEC 61034-1/2).
