AFL has added the Ultra HD MicroCore to its subunit MicroCore cable family, utilizing SpiderWeb Ribbon® (SWR®) technology. This cable supports high-density fiber deployments in data center and headquarters environments and is designed to optimize splicing efficiency when interconnected with AFL's Wrapping Tube Cable (WTC), a fiber optic cable that offers the industry's smallest diameter and lowest weight in a high-density flat fiber cable.

Ultra HD MicroCore cables feature 72-fiber and 144-fiber subunits, resulting in maximum fiber counts of up to 432 and 576, respectively. The cable consists of an OFNR/FT4 (UL1666) flame-retardant outer jacket with a 150 kg installation tension rating and is capable of meeting and exceeding Telcordia's latest GR-409-CORE plant cabling requirements.

SpiderWeb Ribbon is an intermittently bonded fiber design that fits snugly within the cable tube, making it ideal for ultra-high-density applications. The WTC-SWR cable is available in shielded versions from 144 to 1,728 fibers and in unshielded versions up to 3,456 fibers. The cable design also incorporates a gel-free water-blocking system that greatly simplifies fiber access and termination.
