The fiber and cables are designed to help network operators get ahead of the bandwidth demands driven by 5G in access networks, as well as high-performance applications like augmented reality and artificial intelligence in hyperscale data centers. They are also designed to simplify installation, expand capacity and reach, and provide improved density for today's space-constrained environments.
New products include:
A 200-micron fiber pair for cost-effective long-distance reach.

Corning® SMF-28® ULL optical fiber is a future-proof, G.652-compliant, ultra-low-loss solution for long-distance terrestrial networks.
Vascade® EX2000 optical fiber is a large effective area, ultra-low-loss fiber for submarine SDM systems. Both new, smaller-diameter fibers enable up to 33% more capacity per cable at a lower cost per bit than current solutions.

Corning® RocketRibbon™ 200 Extreme Density Cable is the latest addition to Corning's RocketRibbon cable line. Utilizing Corning® SMF-28® Ultra 200 fiber, it offers the same fiber count as other RocketRibbon cable versions, but in diameters up to 15% smaller. RocketRibbon 200 incorporates from 1728 to 3456 fibers. It also features
Corning's new ultra-compact Fiber Array Unit (FAU), which provides higher levels of fiber-to-chip density and coupling performance. Leveraging Corning's Reduced Cladding Bend Insensitive (RCBI) fiber, this new FAU family is designed to help switch manufacturers resolve bandwidth and density bottlenecks in data center switches.
