Ross McLetchie, Sales Director at Mayflex, comments: “As bandwidth demand continues to grow, we are experiencing increased demand across our entire Enbeam fiber offering, so the introduction of the blown fiber solution couldn’t have come at a better time. The concept of installing ducts in buildings, campuses, or data center environments is far from new, but we believe this is perhaps the moment for this type of solution to become more mainstream and provide truly future-proof backbone and FTTX solutions to meet customer needs. We have already secured two major projects with the new range and will be building our stock profile as we roll out the benefits of the offering to our customers in the coming months. Interested parties will have access to training programs covering both design and installation practices, along with a blown fiber rental program.”
Enbeam internal microducts will be offered in Excel's signature ice blue color, while external conduits feature a high-density black polyethylene outer jacket with aluminum foil inserted between the jacket and the microducts for moisture protection. Each design includes internal longitudinal piping and a permanent Silicore™ super-slick lining to reduce friction during cable installation.

Enbeam's Enhanced Performance Fiber Units (EPFUs) are specifically designed for blown fiber applications and are optimized for installation within our range of blown fiber ducts. The fibers are contained within a soft acrylate layer, which cushions the fibers. This layer is coated with a hard layer for strength and finally a low-friction coating to ensure low resistance and maximize blowing distances within the ducts. The acrylate coatings are easily removed to expose the 250-micron primary coated fibers for rapid fusion. The fibers are color-coded according to TIA-598-C. The fiber units are available in OM3, OM4, and OS2 specifications, conforming to standard G-652 and G.657.A1 bend specifications.

McLetchie continues: "Our goal is to offer Excel's direct and indirect users the broadest possible range of end-to-end solutions that meet not only current but also future requirements. This announcement comes 18 months after the launch of our PON solution and is clearly very complementary to it, specifically in the MDU market."
