For this reason, the COFITEL Group supplies OPTRAL's XtremeFire+ family of fiber optic cables, which, with their B2ca classification, provide one of the highest levels of fire safety performance.
Manufactured at OPTRAL's facilities in Barcelona and Fraga (Huesca), XtremeFire+ cables incorporate highly fire-resistant materials that, in case of fire, hinder the spread of fire, thus facilitating a possible evacuation of a building.
They are also distinguished by a minimal emission of opaque smoke, toxic gases, and halogens generated during combustion.
Among the cables with Euroclass B2ca (according to UNE-EN 13501) are the Flat XtremeFire+ and DT-DC XtremeFire+ models. The former are designed for indoor connections with two optical fibers requiring a direct interconnection to the terminal equipment. They feature aramid tensile strength elements.
The DT-DC XtremeFire+ versions, on the other hand, are ideal for deployments with higher fiber density. Their structure offers a capacity of up to sixty optical fibers in an 8.1 mm diameter and adds rodent protection. These are multi-tube loose cables with dielectric armor for indoor use and fiberglass tensile elements. Furthermore, being completely dry (gel-free), they are easier to handle and connect.
OPTRAL also produces XtremeFire fiber optic cables with Euroclass CCa certification. This range includes the CDG (tight cable with dielectric armor for indoor/outdoor use), CDAD (tight cable with braided dielectric armor for indoor/outdoor use), NEXO (gel-free single-tube loose cable with dielectric armor for indoor/outdoor use, with rodent protection), and DTST (gel-free multi-tube loose cable with corrugated steel armor and double jacket for indoor/outdoor and harsh environments, with high rodent protection).
