VersaBeam MT interconnects consist of expanded beam lenses that create a contactless, socket-based interface. The controlled distance reduces the risk of connection failures due to dirt buildup during mating and handling. While traditional optical connectors require frequent inspections and cleaning by qualified technicians, the VersaBeam interface can be quickly cleaned using an air jet or other readily available cleaner.
The VersaBeam MT interconnect's single- and multi-strand high-density spread-beam lens assemblies are available with varying fiber counts to enable system architects to meet their application-specific bandwidth requirements. The collimated lenses are distinguished by excellent insertion loss characteristics, even when exposed to contamination. The MT ferrule footprint allows VersaBeam to be used with MT circular, MT circular 1 x 3, MT circular Xtreme, and MT-compatible MPO/MTP* connectors.
