With commercial fiber-to-the-building (FTTB)/fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) services and cellular backhaul (CBH) deployments evolving and migrating from CWDM to DWDM, EXFO's tunable DWDM OTDR enables technicians to perform field service testing from the headend to the customer premises, easily pinpointing problems and avoiding costly SLA penalties and maintenance downtime. In contrast to the traditional light source and OSA approach, which requires two technicians and synchronization, this single-ended OTDR testing solution allows one technician to quickly respond to network faults. Furthermore, this technology complements existing testing procedures currently used for CWDM deployments, meaning it is ready to use and has a rapid learning curve.
The EXFO FTBx-740C-DWC is a tunable C-band OTDR covering a 100 GHz/50 GHz channel spacing based on the ITU-T standard network. The tunable laser also features a high dynamic range for improved performance and the long range required for metropolitan/long-distance applications. Furthermore, this new product incorporates EXFO's most advanced OTDR technologies.
The device includes a 12-inch touchscreen, modularity, Windows 8, and the main applications.
