The AQ7280 is based on a modular design that allows it to be configured for a wide range of network environments and topologies, from FTTH to metro and core networks. Fast measurements and ease of use are ensured with a capacitive multi-touch screen, automated measurement software, and a highly stable operating system that facilitates quick commissioning – while field use is supported by a battery that provides more than 10 hours of continuous operation.
The AQ7280's hardware is designed for ruggedness and reliability in the harshest field conditions. It has no cooling fans in the chassis, and therefore no openings for dust or water ingress. The software also contributes to reliability, with a much more stable operating system than those originally designed for PC use, and it takes only seconds to be ready to start measuring.
The AQ7280's dual operating modes feature a choice of multi-touch screen buttons or physical buttons. Fully automatic measurements and simple measurement analysis reports are instantly accessible through a wide range of software applications.
The software also allows multiple functions to run simultaneously, including multi-fiber measurements, intelligent event mapping, and the Eagle Eye feature (for high-resolution sampling in long-distance measurements). The AQ7280 also incorporates automatic analysis functions for fiber connector surface identification and intermittent connection monitoring.
The AQ7280 supports wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity for remote instrument control and data transfer.
Nine new plug-in modules for the OTDR include single-mode, multi-mode, low dynamic range, ultra dynamic range, and two-, three-, and four-wavelength options. A range of power sensors, light sources, visible light sources, and fiber inspection probes are available to configure it to user needs.
All single-mode units are optimized for PON network analysis with up to 1:128 splitters.
