The erbium-doped fiber laser emits femtosecond pulses at 1550 nm with the highest peak power of its kind available on the market. The average fundamental output energy (1550 nm) exceeds 350 mW, and the pulse width is well below 100 fs. The repetition rate can be selected from 40, 80, and 100 MHz.

All vital components benefit from the latest expertise of the installed ultrafast fiber laser base. Consequently, this laser meets the requirements of even the most demanding applications. For example, the new saturable absorption mirror (SAM) ensures stable blocking under all laboratory conditions – even humidity and temperature variations are well tolerated. Furthermore, all fiber components maintain polarization. This significantly increases robustness against environmental influences. Operation is also easier: many functions, such as variable dispersion adjustment, are now motorized and computer-controlled.
 
The FemtoFiber Pro comes in a compact, sealed box with an A4 footprint. The first deliveries are scheduled for late 2009. 
Three integrated options will be available in the same laser unit: a fundamental output at 1550 nm, a second harmonic output at 780 nm, or a supercontinuous octave with a range from 980 to 2200 nm. For the first time, the customer can externally switch between 1550 and 780 nm without realignment—simply by pressing an external button. Up to three external fiber "seed" ports can make the FemtoFiber Pro a reliable master for complex multibeam experiments with perfectly synchronized phase pulses.
The system is equipped with Ethernet and USB interfaces.
The FemtoFiber Pro is the latest product in the "pro" series. The "pro" designation indicates the highest specifications with hands-free operation for most applications. This combination makes the FemtoFiber Pro the ideal laser for next-generation ultrafast applications such as THz spectroscopy, biophotonics, metrology, and ultrafast spectroscopy.
