Designed to facilitate the management of patch cords and interconnection between cabinets and racks, this range of simple and intuitive instruments allows the identification of patch cords with or without signal, the location of traffic without generating interference, and the detection of damaged links or problems such as bends and faulty splices.
The two main new additions to C3's visible light source catalog are the EXFO FLS-240 and VFL-250 visual locators, aimed at installers and maintenance managers.
The EXFO FLS-240 is a solid-structure, water-resistant visual fault locator that injects a visible signal at 635 nm (continuous and pulsed) into the fiber. It features a Class 2 laser emitter and compatibility with adapters for 2.5 mm ferrules (SC, LC, ST connectors) and 1.25 mm ferrules (LC connectors).
Powered by two AAA alkaline batteries, the FLS-240 provides 50 hours of continuous service and has a typical range of 5 kilometers, which may vary depending on the type of fiber or cord.
With a convenient cylindrical shape (flashlight type), the FLS-240 weighs 120 grams (with batteries), has a maximum diameter of 20.5 mm and a length of 170 mm. It comes equipped with a carabiner for belt attachment.
The VFL-250 performs similar functions to the FLS-240 but is a more economical model, with a unique adapter for 2.5 mm ferrule connectors. Continuous 2-3 Hz signal injection is performed by a Class 3 laser diode (650 nm, nominal wavelength). Powered by AAA batteries and with compact dimensions (13.5 mm diameter, 170 mm length, and 88 grams weight),
the EXFO FLS 230
A completes the product range. This standard-sized laser source for portable measuring equipment (227 x 120 x 60 mm, 0.75 kg) is designed for continuous 1 Hz transmission for as long as needed, offering three power options: rechargeable NiCd batteries, 9 V alkaline batteries, or direct mains power.
The FLS 230 A features a high-power laser emitter (1 mW maximum output power), providing visibility at 650 nm at a distance of up to 5 km (typical range).
It is housed in a rugged, shockproof polycarbonate casing.
