WDM technology enables simultaneous sending and receiving, i.e., bidirectional data transmission, over a single-mode fiber. Transmission quality and bandwidth are not limited as a result. This technology is often used in rotary machines such as rotary cycle machines or wind turbine installations. Switches and other network components can thus be integrated cost-effectively and reliably using optical rotary transmitters with just one fiber.
