Furthermore, it will be responsible for carrying out the necessary evolution to implement in Spain the technological and industrial capabilities required to develop a fully proprietary solution of European origin. This solution will guarantee European sovereignty over this critical asset, meeting the requirements of the Spanish and allied Armed Forces.

"With this agreement, we want to take another step in Indra's extensive track record in developing its own technologies and in the experience accumulated over the last 15 years in the field of SDR technology and waveforms, which has positioned us as national leaders in this field," said Ángel Escribano, CEO of Indra Group.

“We are excited to provide our technology to Indra as a key asset for use in military programs in the jointly agreed market areas. Bittium will continue to be a global provider of tactical communications and software-defined radios (SDRs) in the future as well. With over 40 years of experience, Bittium has positioned itself as a pioneer in advanced next-generation tactical communications solutions and software-defined radios for the modernization of military tactical communications. Together with Indra, we are better positioned to meet the requirements in the agreed market areas,” says Petri Toljamo, CEO of Bittium Corporation.

Indra Group, in coordination with Spanish authorities, and Bittium are two of the members that launched the a4ESSOR joint venture. This alliance brings together Europe's most advanced companies dedicated to developing waveforms specifically designed to enable militaries to interoperate more securely and efficiently. Two years ago, NATO adopted one of the high-speed data waveforms developed by this joint venture and approved its use for tactical communications on radio platforms.
Indra Group, a global leader in technology and defense, has a strong track record in the design, development, and delivery of advanced radio and tactical communications solutions. The company develops and manufactures radios for critical and military communications and has supplied its solutions to various governments and government agencies internationally, including the governments of the United States and Canada, among others.
