ENTI-UB, a private center for higher technological education affiliated with the University of Barcelona, launched this training program at the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year. Its objective is to strengthen specialization in the field of ICT and, in this specific case, Information Security, to respond to the high demand for professionals in a growing sector; according to recent data from Incibe, Spain needs some 99,000 cybersecurity experts to face the cyber threats of an increasingly connected world.
The agreement involves the development of external academic internships at SIA through a training project for each student. Thus, students in the Cybersecurity degree program at ENTI-UB, in their first contact with a digitalized job market, will learn about the methods, tools, and strategies used to protect all types of organizations. The initiative also envisions expanding the collaboration in the future with activities such as teaching classes, giving presentations, and other training programs by the Indra Group.
During the signing of this collaboration agreement, held yesterday afternoon at the Barcelona Seminary, where ENTI-UB has its cybersecurity studies classrooms and laboratory, the CEO of SIA stated that, “to be a cybersecurity professional in our country, you need additional specialization beyond formal education and continuous updating. Like other rapidly growing technological fields, such as AI, Big Data, and 5G, the cybersecurity sector continues and will continue to grow.” “Given these forecasts,” explained Roberto Espina, “at SIA, we invest in attracting and training professionals with varying levels of experience. We firmly believe that this is essential to meet market needs and enable a secure digital transformation for organizations.”
