Mr. Colás began his career at OMRON in 1985 in sales and marketing and quickly established a successful track record within the company. His 37-year career includes more than two decades in senior leadership positions, including Managing Director for Iberia and Division Manager for EMEA.
Since 2015, Colás has successfully led and transformed product and industry marketing and technical support as Managing Director of Marketing EMEA. During this time, Colás also played a pivotal role in implementing OMRON's VG2.0 transformation strategy, helping manufacturers achieve flexible, efficient, and sustainable production through the deployment of the i-Automation! concept.
“I am very excited to take on this new role. My goal is to lead a successful implementation and launch OMRON’s new long-term strategic plan for 2030 in EMEA, as we continue to find new ways to contribute positively to people’s lives everywhere. Our most relevant technologies in sensing, control, robotics, and artificial intelligence enable manufacturers to adapt their production to meet the challenges they face today and in the future,” says Fernando Colás.
OMRON aims to further enhance its environmental initiatives and has positioned itself to address the challenges of climate change and resource recycling as one of its most important priorities. “OMRON is constantly exploring new horizons, and sustainable innovation based on societal needs has been in OMRON’s DNA since our founding in 1933,” concludes Colás.
Colás, born in Spain, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Alcalá de Henares and an Executive MBA from IE Business School in Madrid.
Colás assumed the new position on February 21, 2022 and reports to Junta Tsujinaga, President of the Industrial Automation Company of OMRON Corporation.
OMRON has announced that Fernando Colás has been appointed CEO of its Industrial Automation Business Unit (IAB) in EMEA. Colás succeeds Seigo Kinugawa, who will return to Japan to lead the Global IT and Business Process Innovation Headquarters.
