With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, most recently as CEO of 1&1 Mail & Media Applications SE, Oetjen (51) has amassed extensive expertise in strategic management and technology. Among other roles, Oetjen led the email providers Web.de and GMX, as well as the advertising company United Media. Under his leadership, the United Internet companies were able to strengthen their market position and drive numerous innovations.
“I look forward to taking over as CEO of AVM and continuing the company’s success story together with the proven team,” says Oetjen. “Innovation, building on our market leadership in Germany, and further strengthening our international potential will be our key objectives. As a European company, AVM stands for safe and reliable products for the interconnected world, and we will continue to expand this position.”
Former CEO Johannes Nill is also optimistic about the future: “It is a great pleasure for me to hand over the reins of the company to Jan Oetjen. With his vision and experience, he will take AVM to new heights as an innovative, technology-driven company. I am also delighted that we have found an experienced CFO in Jan-Christian Werner.” Jan-Christian Werner (49) was previously CFO of the SaaS travel technology company and online travel platform HRS Group.
As part of a planned generational transition, Imker Capital Partners, a European family office, was recently acquired as a new investor. The founders will remain with the company as minority shareholders, while Johannes Nill and Ulrich Müller-Albring will join the advisory board. The new management team consists of CEO Jan Oetjen, former CTO Peter Faxel, and CFO Jan-Christian Werner.
