Due to government regulations, Barcelona Wi-Fi speeds cannot exceed 256 Kbps in outdoor locations. This excludes the Barcelona City Council's website and indoor locations, such as libraries and museums, which are accessible with unlimited data speeds. Aptilo SMP manages policies to control bandwidth, opening hours, and permitted connection times, depending on the location of the access points.
Barcelona Wi-Fi is also available as a commercial Premium service with unlimited speeds through a local service provider that also uses Aptilo SMP.
"The Barcelona City Council, one of the pioneers of City Wi-Fi, is constantly moving forward with Smart City initiatives to save costs and support the 1.6 million residents and 7.5 million tourists who visit the city each year," said Paul Mikkelsen, CEO of Aptilo Networks.
