The chair was established to foster cutting-edge research projects that contribute to scientific progress and the generation of innovative solutions in high-potential transformative fields such as secure communications, space exploration, and defense.
Within this framework, Indra Group and UC3M will collaborate on the study and application of quantum phenomena for the secure processing and transmission of information, leveraging advances in quantum physics to develop new technologies in communications and sensors. This line of research will lay the foundation for the future of tactical communications security in hostile environments, in both the civilian and military sectors. Furthermore, the collaboration extends to the analysis and development of radio frequency and applied electromagnetic technologies, which are fundamental to improving the capacity and efficiency of current communication systems.
In the space sector, the joint approach will allow progress in the design of solutions that facilitate the exploration and exploitation of space, guaranteeing precision, safety and performance in satellite and earth observation operations.
The chair will be supported by a teaching and research team with extensive experience, as well as the appropriate scientific, technical, and administrative infrastructure for carrying out its activities. In addition, a dedicated laboratory will be available on the UC3M Colmenarejo campus, which will serve as a workspace and experimentation area.
“This Chair represents a firm step in our commitment to basic research and collaboration with the academic community. Working alongside UC3M strengthens our culture of innovation and accelerates the development of cutting-edge solutions with a real impact on society, as well as the latest defense and security systems that our armed forces need. At the same time, it allows us to contribute to the training of highly qualified young talent and facilitate their integration into our company,” highlighted Manuel Escalante, Chief Technology Officer of Indra Group.
As part of its commitment to training and young talent, Indra will also offer UC3M students, under the umbrella of this chair, internship programs, scholarships, and job opportunities, facilitating their entry into the professional market and ensuring training aligned with the real needs of the sector. This collaboration will be complemented by the joint organization of events, workshops, and seminars that promote knowledge transfer and continuous development in technological innovation.
