The Spanish association of alternative telecommunications operators, made up of some 800 companies, joins the European entity based in Brussels with the aim of helping to raise the profile of the local operator before the community authorities and its role as a relevant actor in the digital transformation of rural areas.

Aotec has been one of the founders of the Spanish hub of Gaia-X for the construction of a European public cloud.


ELFA, objectives
The European association brings together public and private entities committed to the development of telecommunications. ELFA is calling for an “ambitious” European Digital Agenda that includes the deployment of “very high capacity” (VHC) networks across Europe, using fiber optics and based on a competitive market.

The current framework is the so-called 'Digital Decade' 2021-30, with a Digital Compass defined in four axes: ensuring that 80% of the population has basic digital skills and promoting the increase of ICT professionals (20 million); sustainable, secure and efficient digital infrastructures with Gigabit and universal capacity, digital transformation of companies (75% will have to use AI, the cloud and big data) and the complete digitization of public services.

The organization's vision is to create "sustainable fiber-based infrastructures in both urban and rural areas throughout Europe. Its members are committed to using these infrastructures for economic and social development for the benefit of European citizens and businesses.".
