The results of this demonstration clearly show the quality of signal recovery achievable with the PSO-200. Using a test instrument that minimizes its own inherent effects is crucial for developers designing and optimizing modulators and transmitters for high-speed transmissions exceeding 100 Gbit/s.

The EXFO PSO-200 Optical Modulation Analyzer is the only instrument on the market capable of providing distortion-free characterization of phase-modulated signals for transmissions up to 100 Gbit/s. In addition to supporting DP-QPSK for 100 Gbit/s transmissions (recommended by the OIF – Optical Internetworking Forum), the PSO-200 supports modulation schemes and baud rates that can enable signal transmission exceeding 400 Gbit/s.

“EXFO is at the forefront of 100G testing, as evidenced by the recently introduced 100G transport and optical testing solutions. This collaboration with Chalmers University further demonstrates EXFO’s advanced expertise in 100G testing and measurement,” said Étienne Gagnon, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “The PSO-200 Optical Modulation Analyzer directly addresses the needs of system designers working on next-generation network technologies to support the growing demand for bandwidth.”

“The PSO-200 is the only optical modulation analyzer on the market that characterizes amplitude- or phase-modulated signals up to 100 GBaudios, with minimal signal distortion,” added Peter Andrekson, Professor at Chalmers University. “This state-of-the-art instrument makes it possible to test high-speed systems based on advanced modulation schemes – from early system development to field deployment.”
