The report, which is Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for the Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (NPMD) market, forecasts growth within this emerging technology market. It emphasizes the need for a single, integrated solution to monitor, troubleshoot, and analyze networks—and, perhaps even more importantly, the applications and services that run on them.
Market analysis conducted by Gartner indicated growing interest in the NPMD market, also known as Application-aware Network Performance Management (AANPM). Increasingly, companies are realizing the critical importance of understanding their customers' and end-users' experience with their networks and applications. They recognize the need to proactively monitor network performance and react quickly to troubleshooting and repair outages and degradations that impact user and customer experience. Real-time performance, historical performance, and predictive behavior capabilities were among the criteria in the quadrant, along with flow-based data and network packet analysis.
“Gartner’s decision to develop the NPMD report highlights the growing importance of this market and emphasizes how vital network and application performance management is to helping businesses achieve their business objectives,” explained Daryle DeBalski, vice president and general manager of Fluke Networks Visual’s business unit. “As a leading NPMD solution, Visual TruView helps IT professionals redefine their ability to deliver best-in-class network and application experience to end users and customers by empowering teams to collaborate across domains and focus on service, rather than defining their territory.”.
A recent survey of networking professionals conducted by Fluke Networks** indicates that more than half lack the necessary tools to quickly and accurately identify problems related to VoIP, applications, and other network performance. Fluke Networks' offering in the NPMD space – Visual TruView – is a unified AANPM solution that incorporates five tools in one, including real-time user experience monitoring, stream-to-disk packet analysis, NetFlow/IPFIX collection, device health monitoring, and VoIP QoS. TruView enables network engineers to gather data from multiple sources, providing the broad visibility and detailed forensic data needed to troubleshoot even the most complex issues.
TruView was designed with ease of use and ultimate value in mind. From deployment to daily use and scalability, TruView is considered one of the best values in the industry. When combined with other offerings in the Fluke Networks portfolio, TruView provides unique capabilities; for example, using OptiView XG as the endpoint, Visual TruView can reach the access network to resolve Wi-Fi issues and other site-based concerns.
